Welcome to Hopkins Interactive
Hopkins Interactive is a social media website designed to enable prospective and admitted students to Johns Hopkins to connect with the University by offering them candid, uncensored information about student life on campus and throughout Baltimore. How, you may ask, can we accomplish this?
The content featured on the Hopkins Interactive site is entirely created by current Johns Hopkins students' specifically the members of the Student Admissions Advisory Board (SAAB). These volunteers represent the student voice of Johns Hopkins and are open and excited to share their experiences with interested, applying, admitted, and enrolling students. Through blogs, message boards, Twitter, Facebook, videos, an Insider's Guide publication, and an ever-growing list of other projects, the SAAB students strive to provide a clear picture of Johns Hopkins by dispelling myths, answering questions, and providing direction to further resources.
The first version of Hopkins Interactive launched in December 2005 and featured an admissions blog, eight student blogs, and a message board. It turned out to be wildly successful, helping many prospective students connect with the University on a more personal level, ask specific questions, or just read about the day-to-day lives of Johns Hopkins students. Building on the success of the first version of the site, Hopkins Interactive re-launched in 2006, with version 2.0 which featured additional student blogs, four official university blogs, new social media content, and 22 student profiles. Further updates throughout 2008 and 2009 brought an integration of Twitter, Facebook and YouTube to allow glimpses of Hopkins from every imaginable angle.
Currently, Hopkins Interactive features 19 student blogs, 23 archived blogs (for a total of more than 2000 entries), four university blogs, 25+ student profiles, a message board with over 600 threads and 6,500 responses, over 100 YouTube videos with over 300,000 views, and nine Twitter accounts. We hope you enjoy the site and learn more about Johns Hopkins University from our point-of-view. We look forward to connecting with you and answering all of your questions. Make sure to check back frequently, as there's always something new in the works.
Enjoy,
The Student Admissions Advisory Board
