Hi, I'm currently finishing up my application online.  However, I am running out of room on the activities form.

What I need to say (under "Offices held, titles and awards earned, etc.") for my 4-H club is "2007 Vice President, 2008 President, Best Friend Award".  However, your form does not have enough room for all of that.

Is there any way around this?  What should I do?  Should I put my award in the other spot, for academic awards?

EDIT-- Oh, I scrolled down and found the extra information spot.    Guess it would help to read the whole thing before asking silly questions!

I do have one more question, though.  If I volunteered at a summer camp during summer between 11th and 12th grade, do I check the box for 11th or 12th grade?

Yes, there is an additional information section in our online application where you can add any additional information that your could not post elsewhere. If you do run out of room, especially in terms of your activities list, you can always mail a complete resume to the Admissions Office and it will be added to your application file.

Traditionally, the school year runs from the first day of class for a given year through the first day of class for the next year. That means a summer experience between 11th and 12th would actually be considered a continuation of 11th grade and listed such. It really doesn't matter though.

A random question:

How does the staff in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions handle all the mail that arrives from applicants? Do they ever make mistakes like losing or misplacing an applicant's paperwork?

Since the Operations team is handling materials for over 15,000 applications -- with each application averaging 12 pages in length -- there is a lot to be processed and be filed. The occasional mistake is made in filing, but since each file passes through numerous admissions staff members those mistakes are often remedied. On very rare occasions due materials go missing, in those circumstances the applicant or school is contacted so that duplicate materials can be faxed and sent.

Errors will always happen because no system is perfect, but that is why we have an extensive system of checks and balances as we process all application materials.

The deadline for regular admission on the online application is january first. does that mean that the site will close at midnight on new years eve, or will i have till midnight on the first to complete the application? i dont want to rush through what i have left if i dont have to.

You have until 11:59 pm EST on January 1, 2008 to submit your online application. Do not wait until the last minute ... why chance it?

Hi. Two questions:

1) I already submitted the common application secondary school report and teacher evaluation forms to Johns Hopkins. I did not use the secondary school report and teacher evaluation forms provided by Johns Hopkins. I'd like to know if it is okay for me to submit the Johns Hopkins online application instead of the common application.

2) On the JH online application, it asks for my ACT English/Writing score and English/Writing Subscore. Is the English/Writing Subscore the score I received on my essay on a scale from 2-12?

Thanks!

thanks! another question. i was joint enrolled so i put that i had taken college courses for credit. I read that i need to send my scores, but there are 2 problems

1) my grades have not been posted yet
2) i had 2 college courses but only had space for one

so i guess there are 2 questions as well. Should i just send the scores once they are posted, and should i send both or just the one I put on the application?

Though we prefer that students not merge application forms between the Johns Hopkins application and Common Application, there is nothing that can be done now. If you used the same full name, birth date, and school information when submitting your JHU online application and the Common Application school forms, then your application will be merged correctly.

Yes the English/Writing Subscore is on a scale of 12.

You need to have an official college transcript sent from any college/university that you have taken courses at or are in progress of taking courses through. The transcript(s) need to reflect any grades in completed courses and also any in-progress courses. For in-progress courses you will need to request a second transcript when those courses are completed.
