Financial Aid Questions

My son was accepted Early Decision, and we just received an e-mail from College Board that our IDOC packet is due on March 1, 2011.  We have not been able to file our tax return yet, as the IRS is delaying filers with itemized deductions until mid to late February.  Can we submit an un-filed tax return to IDOC, or do we wait until the IRS is ready to accept it?  It may be cutting very close to the March 1 deadline.

This is something you have to ask of a Financial Aid counselor. Call their office at 410-516-6025 for assistance.

JHU gave me their FA summary and it is REALLY good. however, it's only based off of my CSS profile, they haven't received my fafsa yet.

and i'm afraid that once they receive my fafsa that the offer they're giving me might go down in dollar amount :( does this happen? upon receiving my fafsa do you think that they'd take away from the generous amount they are offering me now? or can i be hopeful in that it'd either stay the same or, by a miracle, go up?

My son was accepted ED, and we received a financial aid award letter in December, pending the receipt of FAFSA later on.  I know that awards have since been finalized; should we be receiving a final financial aid statement now?

When I applied using the Common Application, I stated that I intended to apply for need-based financial aid; however, my parents have recently decided that I will not be applying for financial aid. Will my application be affected in any way if I do not submit the CSS/Financial Aid PROFILE? Thank you!

Marking on your application for admissions that you plan to apply for financial aid does not start a financial aid application for you. A financial aid application only begins when one submits financial aid required documents such as the FAFSA or CSS Profile. If you have chosen not to apply for financial aid and have not submitted any financial aid documents then there is nothing you need to do.

If you are an Early Decision applicant, then you did miss the November 15 deadline to submit the CSS profile form. You should contact the Financial Aid office immediately to see what opportunities are available to you since you missed the deadline.

If you are a Regular Decision applicant, then the CSS Profile form is due when all other financial aid forms are due = March 1, 2012.
