My name is Samantha Mannala and I am applying to JHU. I shadowed a doctor this summer and I would like to include her recommendation. I have shadowed this doctor for 2 summers and feel that she knows me well enough to write about my interest in the medical field. The doctor was wondering how she can send the letter to JHU.

As stated previously above, the Admissions Office will accept additional letters of recommendation but we state quite strongly that we do not want applicants submitting more than a total of four recommendations. If you choose to add a supplemental letter of recommendation, those letters must be mailed to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions directly by the recommendation provider. All mailed supplemental information should include your full name, birth date, school attended, and social security number (though that last item is optional). Including this information makes it much easier for processing application materials.

Can a supplemental letter of recommendation be faxed to JHU at 410-516-6025, or should it just be mailed? And what address should it be mailed to?
Thank you!

A recommendation provider may fax their recommendation to the Admissions Office at 410-516-6025, but we prefer that an official copy of the letter also be mailed to:

If my teachers have not completed my letters of recommendation yet, can it be submitted after the regular decision deadline?
Thank you!

As we have stated previously, Johns Hopkins University requests that all application materials be submitted online and postmarked by the application deadline of January 1. We understand though at times school-related application materials such as the secondary school report, transcript, and letters of recommendation cannot be sent by that date. We will be flexible with the application deadline for those parts of the application; however the student portions of the application must be submitted online or postmarked by the January 1st deadline.

The school materials of the application may be sent after the January 1 deadline, but not later than January 15th. If your school materials are going to be delayed longer than that, your guidance counselor needs to call the admissions office to request an extension.
