Mid-Year Reports
« on: January 03, 2011, 09:43 PM »
Hi,
I'm not sure if I am supposed to make a new topic for this, but I couldn't find anything in my search about what I wanted to find out.
I had a question of how much the mid-year reports weigh in the selection proces.
For the past 3 years my stats have been pretty good. I have all A's and i took the most challenging cirriculum available at my school. I took 6 AP Classes last year and made all A's. (My school only lets juniors and seniors take AP Classes so those were the only ap classes I took until then).
However, this year  it looks like I will have a B in my AP Calc BC class atleast for the first semester. I am sure I can bring it up to an A by the end of the year but it will show a B on my mid-year report.
How much will this affect me? Are mid-year reports more or less important than the grades from the first three years?

Mid-year reports are a very important part of the comprehensive review of an applicant's academic performance. No final decision is rendered on any application until a mid-year report and senior year transcript is thoroughly evaluated. A mid-year report carries the most weight in the review of a student's academic record as it is the most recent report of academic performance and tends to represent a student's performance in the most rigorous courses they have taken to date.

I will not comment on your personal circumstances and how that will impact the review of your application, as every applicant's academic performance and trends needs to be reviewed in the context of the entire application.
