Does Hopkins still waive the application fee for Maryland Distinguished Scholars?
Johns Hopkins University will waive the application fee for finalists and semifinalists of the Maryland Distinguished Scholars program. Applicants must include a copy of the certificate when applying for the fee waiver to be approved. We also recommend the applicant make a note of their fee waiver status in the additional information section of the application. The fee waiver is not offered to Honorable Mentions of the Maryland Distinguished Scholars program.

How would you do this using the online Common App?
Common App Payment page says JHU only accepts the following payment types:

Payment types accepted by this college:
    Online Credit Card / eCheck
    NACAC Fee Waiver Request
    College Board Fee Waiver Request

Can you submit the application without payment?  Or should you check the box saying that you've applied for a NACAC Fee Waiver or a College Board Fee Waiver?  Or do you need to submit a paper application?

For students applying online who plan to use a fee waiver, the process is simple. The student needs to complete and submit their online application, while mailing in their fee waiver request. The fee waiver can also be faxed to 410-516-6025. For a Maryland Distinguished Scholar finalist or semi-finalist sending in a copy of the notification letter with a small note requesting the fee waiver is what is needed. Please know, we do not accept fee waivers submitted through e-mail.

When completing the online application, if the option for the specific fee waiver is not available (such as Expanding College Opportunities, Maryland Distinguished Scholar, guidance counselor submitted) the student should just choose any of the options that are available and mention in the additional information section which form of fee waiver they are submitting. Do not submit a payment as we will not send refunds.

Hello, I'm an international student applying for Fall 2011 Regular Decision. I'd like to know if Johns Hopkins offers fee waivers for international students, and if so, how can I submit my fee waiver request? Thanks!

If paying the application fee to Johns Hopkins University presents a financial hardship, we are happy to waive the application fee for any applicant. One must simply have their guidance counselor officially request a fee waiver in written form and have them send the request with the applicant's Secondary School Report and high school transcript. As well, one’s high school counselor can use the College Board or NACAC fee waiver form. We only process fee waiver requests that come from a high school administrator, not directly from an applicant.
