Nick, I went to go see Reza Pahlavi as well and I thought he was amazing! I had studied him in school, so it was really awesome to hear what he had to say on the issues I had studied. I didn't know this before going, but you get to hear the speaker's speech, ask him/her questions, and meet and greet them. I got to take a picture with Reza Pahlavi. :)

Kate and Nick, it's great to hear that Reza Pahlavi was such a great speaker!  I wish I could have gone!  That would have been really really interesting to hear him speak about his thoughts on the future of the Middle East.  And Kate, that's so cool that you got a picture with him.

I'm ashamed to say that I have not gone to MSE event yet... But after reading all of your awesome comments, I'm definitely going to the next one!

I've never been to any MSE Symposium events, however last year DSAGA had Anthony Rapp (star of Rent) come and speak. It was AMAZING. He was so chill, and so much fun to hang out with (before the event).

Thomas Friedman came a couple weeks ago which was amazing, because he had just gotten back from Egypt!! It was so interesting to hear his take on the situation, especially considering the fact he had literally just arrived back in the country. His book - Hot, Flat and Crowded is a great read if anyone is interested.

Journalist Bob Woodward also came about a month ago, which was particularly exciting for me, because he has been a hero of mine for a very long time. I suggest you all see the movie or read the book All the President's Men to learn about his investigation of the Watergate scandal. with Carl Bernstein.
