Hopkins has tons of great art on campus, and the BMA is even situated right next to Mason Hall!  So what's your favorite piece of art on campus?  Mine is a tie between the Johns Hopkins portrait made out of beer cans in Levring hall and the snail sculpture in the Bufano Sculpture Garden near Bloomberg.  Everybody has to ride the snail!  :P

I think the atrium in Gilman is gorgeous. I think that's a beautiful piece of art!

I love the stained glass windows in Memorial Hall in Gilman. They are absolutely gorgeous and I think it is so cool they chronicle Daniel Gilman's life!

I think my favorite is a recent installation of a tree stump sculpture near Levering Hall. It got here sometime around last winter and, while it's not necessarily the most beautiful piece of art around campus, it definitely was the one that sparked the most discussion! (Actually, I'm still not sure why it's actually there...)

I'm a big fan of the Sculpture Garden by Bloomberg and the Rec Center. In the spring (and the first time I saw Hopkins), it's covered in daffodils - and therefore gorgeous. It's also a good place to just talk and hang out - I bonded with two people who are now my best friends there one night in freshman year (just one of several fun memories from the sculpture garden!)

I loved the sponge guy that used to be outside of Mattin... I don't know what happened to that guy...

I'm not much of an "art person" but I think that giant painted crab with the lacrosse helmet outside of Charmar is pretty cool.

The best piece of art on campus is the sculpture on Q-Level entitled, Woman with Sunglasses on Bench by the renowned sculptor George Segal. Basically, it's a really cool sculpture of this woman sitting on a bench. She also has sunglasses on, if I'm not mistaken. She and used to have a thing, but...well, it's kind of a sore subject.

But seriously, the first time I sat on that bench I was frantically trying to find something in my backpack. I was in a rush, and I wasn't really paying attention. Then I started wondering why this girl next to me was being so still. Then I looked up and was really embarrassed. Good thing I'm the only only person who will ever know that happened...wait...

I love the art installations in Mattin Center. One of them was an apple falling from the ceiling into a bushel, and it was in the different stages of freefall. It was a nice blend of Physics and Art!

Plus, upstairs is a lot of student work, and mine has been in there before!

Anything and everything in the Archeological Museum in Gilman.  I was down there filming something and my inner history geek freaked out at all the ancient works of art they have down there.  Statues, masks, pottery, etc.  Best thing is that the museum is open to the public!
