There is no shortage of caffeine on this campus -- I think it may be in the tap water, or it may as well be since most of us are coffee junkies.  Anyway, my favorite on-campus coffee is at Pura-Vida.  Like Josh said, it's fair trade, organic, and shade grown.  Better yet, you can buy it with dining dollars and it tastes great.

While I agree that there is no shortage of caffeine on this campus, I cannot drink pura vida unless I'm completely desperate and have lost all sense of taste and/or I'm too lazy to walk elsewhere.  Luckily, they also sell canned/bottled starbucks, which I've recently discovered I love.  Cafe Q is so much betterrrr.

I don't know how to describe good coffee.  It's like, you just feel it.

...I'm kidding.

I don't really LOVE the taste of coffee, but I can easily say I don't like a particular kind.  Does that make sense?   A lot of times I"ll be indifferent to it altogether, but sometimes I'll really dislike it.  Then, on rare occasions, it'll just be delicious.

But I don't like Starbucks brewed coffee either.  It tastes burnt to me.

Do I come off as a crazy person yet?  Would it be better or worse if I posted a link to the blog I wrote about my coffee habits? http://blogs.hopkins-interactive.com/mandy...-into-the-soul/  Worse, right?

I LOVE BLACK COFFEE.  There's nothing better than straight coffee without anything to tamper with the taste.  Though it's hard for me too to describe what really makes a "good" cup of coffee - it shouldn't taste burnt, it shouldn't be too watered down; it should taste rich and kind of "round" or heavy on the tongue... that's not really a good description though.  I agree with Mandy, you just sort of know :P

chocolatea has actually been around for a while, but just a hidden treasure.

I would say that for a plain latte--One World does it best.  In terms of flavoured or other types of coffee I would say Carma's. They make a great honey cappuccino.

While I still enjoy going to Starbuck's (especially for frozen drinks) or Carma's, I got one of these things this year and it's helped to save me a fair amount of money. And given me more time to sleep in the mornings!

Personally I prefer Starbuck's or Einstein's but I don't actually drink coffee (I drink the flavored things that contain lots of caffeine but are still like coffee). Most mornings I try to just get up a little earlier in the mornings so I have more time to actually wake up and be more alert for class. I'll only get coffee when I'm ridiculously tired which is why I don't mind spending the money on it.

So...I had 2 cups of coffee on thursday morning because I decided to give it another shot...i ended up feeling nauseated alllllllll day and i had to leave work for 2 hours to go for a walk to try to shake the feeling, and i didn't feel any better until much later that night. Can you get sick from coffee? What an odd drink? I'm so sticking to tea or coffee mixes like cappuccino...but like 70% cocoa and 30 coffee. lol.

I actually can't believe I have never written my opinion on this discussion, it is very overdue. I was raised to be a bit of a coffee snob, so I have an intense hatred for Starbucks and will only go there to get a passion fruit tea thing in the summer.

At Hopkins, there is an Italian restaurant called Donna's that has the most fantastic espressos and cappuccinos but it more of a sit down and enjoy your coffee place, as opposed to grab and gulp before class.

For the days that I don't make my coffee at home/need more coffee throughout the day I adore Carma's, Chocolatea, and, actually, Eddie's, which is a grocery store but they sell this fantastic, robust black coffee that does the job really well.

My favorite part about coffee is the caffeine. So the coffee in the FFC does the trick for me.

This year I loveee Einstein's coffee since its right on my way to class, and they actually have really amazing coffee. The other amazing part about it is that you can use dining dollars there, which is really great when you end up having too many dining dollars at the end of the semester...

Since this topic is titled best place to get coffee, not best coffee, I'll chime in with 711.  I live right above it, and so it's super convenient in the morning.  Not the most amazing coffee in the world, actually it's pretty "eh", but it's on my way to class.

I'm sure I've already posted here because I'm a notorious coffee addict (three cups a day and counting) but I'd have to agree with a lot of others and say that Einstein's takes first place for convenience, cost, and tastiness. It's on the way to class, on the mealplan, and the seasonal coffee blends are life changing.

Other top contenders include Pura Vida (for an Americano, not coffee), Starbucks or Carma's for a cappuccino, and Cafe Q for late-night coffee.

Let's be real, the best coffee is chocolatea. But even then that's not their best drink. Also for freshmen there are closer places, so maybe it's not the greatest place to get coffee. As for that, I'm quite partial to pura vida and their white chocolate mocha's. They're fast, i get to use dining dollars, and it's in a good location, levering.
