I know some schools use a rolling admissions system, making it advantageous to submit one's application as soon as possible. Does Johns Hopkins use a similar system? Regardless, is there a certain optimal timeframe to submit your transfer application? Or should one hold off until the last minute so one can revise the application as much as possible? I appreciate any advice on the subject.

The Johns Hopkins Transfer Admissions process is not rolling. Applicants must apply by the March 15 deadline and all application decisions will be released at the same time at the end of May. Applications submitted way in advance of the deadline do not get reviewed earlier and are not provided an advantage. We suggest submitting your application when it is complete, but in advance of the March 15th deadline. Do not wait until the last minute.

I received confirmation emails from the CommonApp when submitting my application, payment, and supplement. However, I have not received any confirmation directly from JHU.

Can I assume that you have received all my application and required materials?

As you can imagine, it's a busy time in the Admissions Office as we process transfer application materials and simultaneously prepare to release freshman admissions decisions. Because of the volume of records being handled, we regret that it is not possible to confirm whether application files are complete or to identity which individual items have been received.

Johns Hopkins University does not have an online system for tracking application status. Transfer applicants will be emailed an acknowledgment of the receipt of your application; this email does not confirm that your application is complete but rather it has been received by our office and is being processed. Please note that the processing of freshman applications is our priority at this time. Our Operations team will not begin processing transfer applications until the end of March at the earliest.

Rest assured that application files are checked carefully for completeness. We will contact students whose applications remain incomplete. Those students will be given an opportunity to provide us with any missing items before we complete the evaluation of their applications. Please be patient and know that we will confirm the receipt of your application once it is processed.

Hi, I received an email from Hopkins Online Services, which included a pin that allowed me to log into the ISIS system. The site contained some personal and financial aid information.

Although I realize that transfer decisions are made available in late May, does my ability to log into ISIS have anything to do with my admissions decision?

Sincerely,
- John

The ISIS system is a financial aid tracking system only. Every applicant who applied for financial aid will receive a log-in to the ISIS system to track that everything they need to submit for a financial aid application has been received.

I can absolutely assure you that receiving this message has nothing to do with admissions, as the review of transfer applications has not begun yet.

Did the undergraduate admission office start to view the transfer applications for 2011 fall? Do the decisions get released in may? I have not received any email from Johns Hopkins since I submitted my application. Can I just assume that all the materials have been received?

Yes the Transfer Admissions Committee has begun reviewing transfer applications and will be reviewing the applications over the next month. Students with incomplete applications were contacted earlier this week so if you were not contacted you can safely assume your application is complete and under review.

Decisions will be released on a rolling basis starting next week and will be released throughout the end of April and up until the middle of May. Decisions are released both via e-mails and postal mail.

Hi, If I am want to transfer to JHU for the fall of 2012, but I have a few questions. Do a majority of your transfer students come from a 2 year or a 4 year university? Are most of your transfer students sophomore or junior transfers?

Thank you very much
Max

It varies greatly from year to year and is much more based on the applicant pool and strength of the individual applicant than any stated preference by the Admissions Committee. Applicants from a 4 year university do not have an advantage over applicants from a 2 year university and vice versa. The same is true in the sophomore year transfer applicants do not have an advantage (or disadvantage) over junior year transfer applicants.

Hello,
Did I read somewhere that the decision will be mailed out this week? I am so nervous. I worked very hard on my application. My grades were not as superb as they should have been due to lots of problems. I am praying to God to get in. Sorry if this post is annoying but it is helping me relieve my anticipation. Thank you for creating this system. Also, may I know how many transfer applications were received for Fall 2011?
Thank you once again.

The Office of Undergraduate Admissions releases Transfer application decisions on a rolling basis. Our office began to release decisions at the end of April, and all transfer applicants will be notified of their final decision by the end of May. One cannot request an early review of their transfer application, as the Admissions Committee does not process preferential evaluations. Transfer decisions are released by postal mail and e-mail on this rolling basis.

We have not released the total number of transfer applications received yet, but I can tell you it was the largest transfer applicant pool in Hopkins history.

Hi! My question's a little... paranoid. But I was wondering if it's possible the majority of acceptances have already gone out and that those people still waiting should expect rejections.

Basically, do rejections go out on a rolling basis? Or is it only acceptances, with rejections going out all at once toward the end of May?

Transfer admissions decisions are released on a rolling basis, as Admissions_Daniel said, starting at the end of April. This means we have released some transfer decisions; however, all transfer decisions will be released by the end of May. Feel free to read this blog entry written by our own Admissions counselor Sarah about the transfer applicant review process for a bit more information. Basically, though, most people should not expect their transfer application decision until the end of May, and there's no reason to assume one way or the other until the end of May rolls around. Try to hang in there while waiting and best of luck!

Just to echo want Lauren wrote ... only a small handful of transfer decisions have been released to date. As we have been continuously saying all transfer decisions will be released by the end of May. No specific release date has been determined for the remainder of transfer decisions. And I can personally attest that in this final release of decisions by the end of May all decisions will be included -- that means admit decisions and deny decisions.
