What are the transfer acceptance rates for biomedical engineers at Johns Hopkins? What is the retention rate for this program?  Is there any way I can get a profile for successful applicants to this program?

Thank you,
Rohaid

The Biomedical Engineering program at Johns Hopkins University is a limited enrollment major. Since the program is designed to be a four year program, it is extremely competitive to transfer directly into the BME program at Hopkins. In the last few years no transfer applicants have been offered admission into the BME major and that trend is expected to continue in the future.

We encourage transfer applicants to review our other bioengineering programs which are not limited enrollment programs: http://apply.jhu.edu/academics/bioengineering.html.

I was interested in transferring into the biomedical engineering department as well, so this information mentioned above is extremely useful.

Since applying directly into the undergraduate BME program seems to be somewhat of a lost cause, is it possible to transfer into the undergraduate BME program from one of the suggested bioengineering disciplines?

If this plan is tactically disadvantageous, what are the odds of making it into the graduate BME program if one applies from one of JHU's other bioengineering or engineering undergrad programs? Would it be preferable to apply into JHU's graduate BME program after receiving an undergraduate BME degree from another accredited university?

Thanks for your help.

No this is not an option. If space ever opens up in the BME program (and that is an extremely rare occurrence that hasn't happened in the past three years) those spots would be filled by currently enrolled freshmen engineering students, not transfer students. Simply put, transfer students applying to Hopkins should not consider BME as an option.

These forums only address undergraduate studies and admissions. Any questions about Graduate Admissions need to be directed to the Office of Graduate Admissions: http://www.grad.jhu.edu/
